Ingredients

c
or 1 stick of butter
I use salted, but you can use unsalted if you want to control the salt content

cup
sugar
use less if you prefer it less sweet
1
cup
milk or half-and-half
buttermilk works beautifully if you have it
1
cup
self-rising flour
2-3
cans
(or fresh) sliced peaches
with some juice if using canned

Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F.
Place peaches at the bottom of the 9×13 baking dish.
Melt the butter in a mixing bowl. Remove from microwave or stove.
In the same mixing bowl, whisk together sugar, milk (or half-and-half/buttermilk), and self-rising flour until just combined.
Pour the batter directly over the layer of peaches—don’t stir.
Bake for about 45 minutes, until golden brown and slightly puffed.
Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the top with a mix of sugar and cinnamon.
Serve warm, preferably with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
